Alvey Reels Side Cast Reel 500BCXL: For Freshwater and Light Saltwater. Light weight reel with graphite frame and backplate and 5 diameter fiberglass spool. Multi-disc lever drag system and spool tension adjustment. Reel weight 14 1/2 oz. and capacity for up to 500 yards of 12 lb. test line. Matches with the Alvey Models AL500 and AL550 rod, or rods from 7 to 9 feet that have a foregrip that allows you to hold the rod in front of the reel.A unique feature to Alvey Side Cast Reels, this model has a button switch to easily change from right hand retrieve to left hand retrieve.This reel also has a cam lock design for turning the spool (no levers to push) and can be used with the “Easycast” system (see link for casting instructions on the Sidecasting page).Current spool colors are Yellow or Maroon.
