I mounted my hose reel off the side of the trailer. You can see the 4x4’s and where it’s bolted. I used 1/2" all thread, ran it through the wood and the bottom of the trailer so everything is compressed. The front bolts are mounted as would be expected through the railing. It’s as sturdy as can be, zero flex. I loved it until I saw @Racer’s mounted from the top rail I have one too) so at some point I’ll move them all up there but if you don’t have that available this is a way to do it.
