The new Proof 11' 5/6wt. switch kit features a medium/fast blank that is capable of delivering your fly great distances while the extra reach makes mending line and controlling the drift much easier than a shorter rod. The switch configuration is great when fishing close to the blank or when you want to give your shoulder a rest.
The blank is factory rated as between a 5 and 6wt, but we have a number of builders who have been using the blank for a lighter weight trout spey/switch rod. The blank has plenty of reserve power to turn over tandem rigs and an indicator.
We chose a raw carbon finish with a semi-gloss top coat for the blank. This allows a neutral pallet that opens wide the range of hardware and thread colors that will work. Each blank ships with a silk screened rod sock and a specs. label (you can order a custom label below).
We shipped all of our new blanks to Steve Godshall, who works with the top spey and switch rod/line designers in the world. Steve put all of our blanks through the ranks and has provide custom guide spacing and line grain recommendations. We will be adding links to specific lines soon.
